1966 Chevy Suburban U P D A T E

In the seems like years since the last update on this project, it has been in the body shop for so long I almost forgot I owned it.  Here’s what’s been happening, Next Auto Body has been working on straightening and flattening this body inside and out and I can say without a doubt this thing is laser straight all the panels are flat as flat can be, at least 10 times better then from the factory.

We pulled it out of the body shop some months back and pulled the chassis out from under it and stripped it down and sent it up to
Anacapa Soda Blasting in Oxnard for sandblasting and powder paint, once we got it back we added all new bushings and ball joints to the entire undercarriage.  We also custom made new rubber and steel body mounts, but before we put the body back on we dropped in the new blacked out small block and 700R and had a driveshaft made for it then slid the body back on the new frame.

It has been back at Next for a while but it looks like we are finally making some progress, in the past week they have painted the inside of the doors and the complete interior of the Suburban is in final color and clear.  This morning I just got the bad news, they have used almost all of the $800.00 worth of paint and clear and haven’t even started to paint the outside so I had to call and buy another batch of sealer, paint and clear or another $800.00 which ever way you want to look at materials to date, I hope were almost done.

I really hope to be driving the Suburban this summer, we will see.
